AGC (IW/AW/SW) Derron Gee

Chief Gee is a native of East Hampton, New York.  He enlisted in the Navy in September of 2003.  Upon graduating from AG “A” School from Keesler AFB, Mississippi, he reported for duty at Mobile Environmental Team San Diego, California from 2004-2007 where he provided Meteorology and Oceanography (METOC) support to U.S. Third Fleet units. He deployed on USS Curts (FFG 38) in support of Counter Drug Operations qualifying as Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS).
 
In 2005, he was hand selected to be assigned to the Naval Special Warfare Group One METOC unit where he deployed with SEAL Team Three to Iraq in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM AND OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM. During his time assigned, he qualified as NSW METOC Technician at the Mission Support Center and as the RQ-11 (Raven) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) operator.
 
In 2007, AG2 Gee attended AG "C" school in Biloxi, Mississippi, earning his Forecaster designation.  Upon graduation in January of 2008, he reported for sea duty at Strike Group Oceanography Team, San Diego, California and qualified as Fleet and Theater Forecaster.  He deployed U.S. Third Fleet units USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74) and USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) in support of military operations in the western pacific and the multinational exercise RIMPAC and PANAMAX, qualifying as Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist (EAWS).
 
In 2010, AG2 Gee transferred to the shore duty billet of the newly commissioned Fleet Weather Center, San Diego, California. He qualified as Maritime Watch Supervisor and Aviation Duty Officer.  Promoting to Petty Officer First Class he became the Leading Petty Officer of the Blue Two watch team. During his tour, he qualified and earned the Enlisted Information Warfare Specialist (EIWS) insignia.
 
In 2014 to 2017, AG1 Gee transferred to Naval Professional Development Center Detachment Yokosuka, Japan for Instructor duty. During his tour, he advanced to the rank of Chief Petty Officer and qualified as a Master Training Specialist. As the Chief Petty Officer in Charge, his detachment provided professional development curriculum to Forward Deployed Naval Forces Japan including USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6), USS Ronald Reagan (CVN 76), USS Blue Ridge (LCC 19), NOAC Yoko, 2 NOAD’s, and 4 Marine METOC units.
 
From 2017 to 2020, Chief Gee reported aboard Naval Oceanography and Anti-Submarine Warfare Center, Stennis Space Center, MS. Just newly reported aboard he already qualified as Master Oceanographic Forecaster and Naval Oceanography ASW Team Lead. AGC and his team were assigned to DERSON TWO THREE and successfully completed FST-M and COMPTUEX, and a successful deployment aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN-71) in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.
 
AGC Derron Gee assumed the duties as Naval Ice Center Senior Enlisted Leader in August 2020.
 
His military decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal with a gold star, Navy Achievement Medal with four gold stars, U.S. Coast Guard and US Navy Meritorious Unit Awards, and various theater, sea, and service medals.
 
Chief Gee is happily married to Marta M. Gee of Panama City, Panama and they are the proud parents of their only daughter Jaslinne M. Gee (12yrs).
