AGCM (IW/AW/SW) Joel Dan “JD” Seaney Command-Master-Chief, Naval Oceanography Anti-Submarine Warfare Center

Master Chief Aerographer’s Mate Joel Seaney, a native of Valentine, Texas, joined the Navy on April 6th, 1999.  Following basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, he reported to Aerographer’s Mate (AG-A1) School at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi.
  
Master Chief Seaney’s shore assignments include a tour at COMINEWARCOM Operations Detachment at NAS Corpus Christi, Texas (2003-2006), Instructor Duty at CNATTU Keesler AFB, Mississippi (2013-2016), CNATTU Keesler AFB, Mississippi (2019-2021) as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader and METOC Department Head, and the Naval Oceanography Anti-Submarine Warfare Center (2021-present).  His sea tours include USS KEARSARGE LHD-3 (1999-2003), Naval Oceanography Mine Warfare Center Sea Component (2007-2013), and the Naval Oceanography Survey Sea Component (2016-2019). 
 
During his naval career, Master Chief Seaney has conducted global operations in support of Surface Warfare, Undersea Warfare, Anti-submarine Warfare, Mine Warfare, and Naval Special Warfare operators from the following platforms:  USS KEARSAGE (LHD-3), HSV-2 SWIFT, USS DENVER (LPD-9), USS COMSTOCK (LSD-5), Bahrain-based, British Royal Fleet Auxiliary Vessels RFA LYME BAY and CARDIGAN BAY, USS ARDENT (MCM-12), USNS MAURY (T-AGS-66), USNS SUMNER (T-AGS-61), USNS BRUCE C. HEEZEN (T-AGS-64), and various other MCM platforms.
 
Master Chief Seaney has an Associate’s degree in Oceanography Technology, a Bachelor’s degree in Natural Sciences and Mathematics, is a Senior Enlisted Academy (SEA) “Dean’s List” awardee as a 2017 graduate from SEA (Class 206), and a 2021 CMC/COB Academy Graduate.  He is designated as a METOC Master Forecaster and is a Specialist in Information, Aviation, and Surface Warfare.  His extensive career experience includes shipboard firefighting, maintenance, and weapons qualifications, MK-18 Mod 1 & 2 Unmanned Underwater Vehicle (UUV) operator certifications, small boat coxswain operator, Navy Instructor, Master Training Specialist, and various operational weather forecasting qualifications.
 
Master Chief Seaney’s current tour of duty is at the Naval Oceanography Anti-Submarine Warfare Center (NOAC) in Yokosuka, Japan where he is assigned as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader.  He is married to Wendy Seaney from Corpus Christi, Texas and has three daughters, Ryenn Joellee (16), Landrey Cheyenne (12), and Wesley Rose (6).   His current awards and medals include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (4), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (5), Good Conduct Medal (7), National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, NATO Medal, Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and other various service ribbons.
