Lunar images made with the USNO 12-inch Refractor

The Moon provides some of the most thrilling views through the 12-inch telescope.  Here are some lunar images made with this fine old telescope.  Click on the thumbnails for a full-resolution version.

This is a composite image made from 10 sub-frames taken with a Canon EOS Rebel T2i DSLR camera.  The image was made on 2018 January 25 at 23:00 UT.

South-central lunar terminator, made on 2016 November 7.  The three prominent craters in the center right frame are Arzachel, Alphonsus, and Ptolemaeus.  The images were made with a Canon EOS Rebel T2i DSLR supplemented with a 1.6X Barlow lens for an effective focal length of 7320mm.
